Although the society in this novel is most often viewed as negative and oppressive, there are positive aspects as well. Use specific examples from the novel to support your answer.

I have some ideas (below) but I need more.

***MY IDEAS***Crime rate is lower, since nobody can do anything in private. Sexual escapades would be lower as well, along with controlled birth rates, since all s*x must be first approved by the Ministry of Love. No time is wasted on foolish political debates, since there is only one party and one leader that heads it, even if that leader is a synthetic one.

Thanks!

  1. Your logic is along the lines of a man castrating himself so he doesn't have to worry about a urinary tract infection. The costs outweigh the benefits so much that the benefits aren't really benefits at all. How do you rejoice over the fact that the crime rate is lower when doing so might be interpreted by Big Brother as erratic behavior which would in turn subject you to persecution? Are "foolish" political debates really so troublesome that such measures must be taken to eliminate them? I don't think so.

Interesting way of looking at the story though.

  2. People have complete security, morality is universal,to a certain extent we all live in this world and it makes us HAPPY.
