1985 Mustang Convertible - Good Car?

I've found a 1985 Mustang Convertible with 180,000 miles that seems to be in pretty good shape. Missing some battery cable clamps (?) but other than that, it runs. Can anyone give me some advice on this car? Good year? Problems to look for? Thx!!!

  1. It is too old...

I guess you should check insurance quotes for the car before buying one, for example here: http://carquotes.imess.net

Mustangs are also expensive to insure...

  2. too old, it's best days are gone.

    if you want a Mustang

look at these years and engines.

convertibles will bring a little more, but sooner or later they all leak.

    $4,000 1998 Mustang V6

    $6,000 99 to 2001 Mustang V6

    $8,000 V8 1999 to 2000

    $10,000 V6 2003 or a V8 2001

  3. That is a really old car and has a lot of miles. It probably doesn't have much life in it.

  4. I wouldn't want to buy that Old Ford. Mustang or not. There is a reason why there's so many nasty expansions of the word FORD.

The dealer could have prepped it up to sell it. You wouldn't know underlying problems. For example he could have reset the OBD or whatever those cars had. So you won't see Check Engine. He could patch up the Serpentine belt so it won't break in the test drive but will on free way ?

Who knows ! It could really be a nice car or it might not be. I won't put money on it. If you are so desperate for a convertible, I am sure you can find others.
