I unfortunatly have the 2.8L V6 MFI. The car starts up and idle's ok but if you give it any throttle it boggs out and sometimes pops. its running way to lean. i just did a full tune up about a month ago, cap, rotar, plugs and wires. i replaced the egr valve since it was shot anyways and i tried putting in a new throttle positioning sensor. still no improvement. the vaccum lines look fine and i dont hear any leaks. what else could be the problem? oxegen sensor maybe? I'm stuck.

  1. i would get a can or two of brake cleaner and spray all the vacuum hoses, fittings, and intake manifold..... It definitely sounds like a vacuum leak.. if you hit a leak with the brake cleaner, the idle will pick up briefly....

  2. Its possible that the guy who sold you the car took the light out because of a code that didnt really effect the car and made it come on.

I dont think they used a map sensor until a few years later when they switched from a MAF to Speed Density system so I would double check whatever chart your getting your codes off of to make sure its for the right car.

Overall it does sound like a vaccume leak to me. Check over all the ports and lines on your intake manifold again and on the emissions stuff. they put quite a few lines in their that will often dry rot when they get old

  3. One question is do you have a check engine light on ?

if you do you can pull up the codes by jumping the pins. If no ,The first thing i would do is check your fuel pressure. Sounds like the pump dieing

  4. use spark plug wire loom...wires might be touchin
