If the case is damaged try and find a use 1 in good shape>

If you have your boat insured,call your agent and have them come and look at it.If it needs to be replaced you will get a new one and your only cost will be whatever your deductible is.If you are paying the cost will be anywhere from $1500.00 to $5000.00.I hope this helps and good luck.

Cheapest and easiest option is to buy a complete used outdrive. Ebay usually anywhere from $300-$3000.

To rebuild an alpha gen I, anywhere from $1000 to $4500, depending on internal damage.  Another option is to buy a remanufactured gearcase, available from Sierra Marine.  Stay away from used parts, they don't have a warranty, and you really don't know what you are getting.
