I have a 88' evinrude 40hp outboard.

I wanna get more performance out of the engine.

I have been told that if I put new injectors on it that it will eat more gas but will go fast.

I am thinking about doing that but is there anything else I

can do to it?

  1. To begin with, your 88 40hp doesn't have injectors. It is a carbuerated motor. Now, on to the truth. It all depends on the boat it is on. If it is on a flat bottom boat, try lifting the motor another half inch on the transom. That may get you a little. once that is done, probably a smaller diameter prop with a little more pitch is the next step.

  2. You can change the prop, but to gain top speed you will lose some of your hole shot or take off power. A 40hp motor isnt going to be all that fast anyway.
