F type for automatic, 90 weight for manual?

  2. Automatic or manual?

Best way to find out is call a auto parts store. They have info on hand as to which fluid and the capacity.

  3. Dextron is NOT for GM transmissions only. Ford was using type F (For "Friction", not "Ford)" until the mid to late 60's and then switched to Dextron. Mercron wasn't even on the shelf for many years after.

  4. for how much depends on what you have done 4 or 5 to 12 quarts and  DEXRON

  5. dextron w/ mercon 3.capacity depends on how far the tranny was torn down.If you only did a filter change add 3 qts. run it in park on level ground and add as neccesary until it is at the proper level.

  6. There were 2 different manual transmissions and one automatic transmission in 1988.

The automatic require Mercon fluid not Dexron(Dexron is for GM transmissions)

The Mazda built manual(the most common one) also requires a Mercon fluid.

The Mitsubishi made manual uses a 10w-40 motor oil.

How much depends on what you are doing.

The automatic requires 3 quarts for a service fill.  But if you have replace the torque converter it needs either 9 quarts for a 2wd or 10 quarts for a 4 wheel drive.

The Mazda manual transmission needs 5.5 pints to fill it.

The Mitsubishi manual needs 4.9 pints to fill it.
