1988 ford laser blowing smoke ...please help

Hi all

I'm having a bit of a smoke problem.

Now when I first turn the car over in the morning, there heaps of white

smoke which then turns a little grey. Its stops and you never see smoke

again till the next morning.

Now when I say heaps of smoke it fills the air for a good 1 - 2 minutes.

I have an oil change about 4 weeks ago and I check the oil everyday, The

oil level is the same as the day the oil change was done. So its not

burning oil.

The same with the water level, its the same as the day I did a radiator

flush, a month ago. So I'm not loosing water.

The engine runs perfectly, no loud noises, no clangs, no rough running,

turns over first go. You could say for a 1988 model car the engine is in

good condition.

Which makes me wonder where the h**l the smoke comes from.

Anyone have any ideas.

I know that burning oil, and water leaking into the engine causes huge

amount of smoke, but I've got neither problem.

I'm stumped. Please if anyone can help..

Thanks

Britney

  1. hi.. it could be your vale seals in the head of your motor. the vales is under the vale cover.....the vale cover is where you put the oil in..my 1987 Honda does the same thing only smokes after it sets over night.you can try .... Lucas oil treatment ....it is about $10 a bottle it takes about a week to work but it does work if the vale seals are not to bad.vale seals are little rubber rings. over time they get hard and don't keep the oil from leaking down on the pistons..a drop of oil can smoke a.lot... Lucas  oil treatment will make them soft and stop most or all of the smoke if they are no to bad???it made a believer out of me i use it every oil change.....one more thing to check is the... PVC vale... it is also on the vale cover and has a small hose that is on it ...auto zone might check the PVC vale for you???   ps... do not over fill your oil this can make it smoke to..if it is full of oil Waite till it gets a quart low before adding the Lucas oil treatment or drain a quart out of the motor... i hope this helps???
