I have an 1989 bayliner cierra with a 350 inboard today 8-09-08 I took the boat out on the lake and drove probably 3 miles before my engine shut down. I open the engine cover up and smoke came from all over after it cooled down looking at the engine left exhaust elbow was hot and melted the rubber fittngs. Can anyone tell me why one side is hot and the other side is cool, Could there be a blockage in the exhaust elbow. Any help with this would me great..

Thank you

Andy

  1. There is a blockage in the coolant jumper hose that feeds the left manifold.

  2. It is a Bayliner - your are lucky to be alive.....

Most likely a blockage in the cooling system.

  3. I'm thinking that your water pump is failing and must be replaced.  If it'sa couple years old it can "take a set" and begin to pump less water.  Because of the sirculation pattern this offten turns up on the port elbow.  Hopefully on real damage was done, but have the impeller changed when you get the bellows repaired.  Good Luck!
