I have a 1990 Ford Thunderbird,

When i rev it a bit it has a slight knocking noise in the engine, and when i step on the gas it slowly gets up to speed,

All fluids are good, i checked them multiple times today,

Any ideas on what is wrong?

  1. You have the 302?

I never put anything less than 89 octane in my engine... usually 91. (California).

Check the fuel filter... hope it's not the fuel lines themselves, but they tend to work themselves out, if you catch them early and use a cleaner.

I'd also check the air filter... it's a long shot, but it may be the culprit as well.

  2. Something in the fuel system.  Maybe you're running too low octane or old gas.  Injectors may be fouled or your fuel pressure is too low because of a restricted fuel filter or fuel pump going bad.  Any mechanic can check your fuel pressure, but make sure it is one you trust if they say the injectors need replacement.
