  1. need to know this:

    when you turn the key, what happens?

    does the solenoid "click"?

    does the starter engage the flywheel?

    does it spin the flywheel at a normal rate of speed?

    check your neutral safety switch.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    there is a minimum cranking speed below which the motor isn't generating enough electricity to cause spark.
    battery load test first, then pull spark plugs and spin flywheel by hand to see if powerhead is seized.  If it feels ok, troubleshoot the starter motor.  If you're getting good voltage to the starter and it's spinning slow, then have it rebuilt.
  2. Im not completely sure as to what happened in your question. Are you saying that he left the jumper cables attached to the boat's battery(with the battery cables also attached) and when he was removing the cables from the truck he touched them together and shorted the battery out?
    If so it should have a circuit breaker on it.When the battery was shorted out it should have tripped this breaker first. On my boat it is located above the starter on the panel that the solenoid attaches to. When you locate it push it in to reset the breaker. See if this aids in getting you power.
    Also is the motor turning over and just will not start?
  3. It sounds like the boat may not have needed a jump start.  Your son may have thought it did because it turned over slow and wouldnt start.  Your starter may be bad.  Or the battery wont handle a load.  Get  the battery load tested, and if it passes, get the starter tested.
  4. It sounds like you've covered the bases. There is an ignition kill switch on this model boat, so I'd check that.  The real question is that there is "NO SPARK"... right.  If so disconnect the wiring harness from the terminal strip, then jumper red and purple and crank the engine. If you get spark then the tested components are working, but I suppect the CD box is bad even though it test good.
