  1. I'm going to respond with as helpful info as possible.  I drive a Tiburon, but had similar problems... I had to have the transmission replaced.  The sooner the better, because the issues you are having can effect other systems if you let it ride too long.

My BEST reccomendation is NOT to take it to a dealer...  take it to a TRUSTED mechanic in your area who KNOWS transmisions, and let him drive it.  Ask around for reccomendations if you don't already know a great mechanic.  Make sure he's been doing it for several years.  It's likely that he won't charge you (or will charge only a small ammount) for the diagnostic (him driving it) and he'll probably know what's wrong with it RIGHT AWAY.  Get a quote from him, it'll probably be the best in town, and let the guy do his work if he comes highly reccomended.  Honest mechanics are NOT hard to find, but they are just about the best dudes to have on your side!!

  2. This trans has a TV cable that could be out of adjustment, have that checked out first, the dieing when put in gear is a common problem that is caused from probably a bad tcc solenoid.
