1991 Honda Civic idles really low then normal?

and eventually it will die out....anyone know what might be wrong? It will usually die out more if it is put in drive and I am stopped. If I put it in reverse too, it will die out if I am holding the brake. Same for drive.....??anyone?

well it depends but one of the reasons is that it could be slightly overheating. it is pretty old so i wouldn't be surprised if it would die out sometimes when it is a little hotter than it should be.
