When accelerating, or decelerating, past 20 MPH, my bike makes a metallic squeak/whistle. I have tried to recreate the sound while the bike is on the stand with the back wheel spinning and I cannot do so. Leading me to believe the front brake is to blame, however after cleaning it thoroughly and removing glaze from the pads, the sound continues. I even tried to disconnect the speedo cable thinking the gauge was to blame, but even that didn't help, so i greased the cable and still I can hear this squeak. i just replaced a fork seal after my brother dented the tube, so perhaps the spring in the fork is to blame, or maybe the disk is warped, but that wouldn't explain why the sound is only heard at 20 MPH. Any advice is apreciatted

  1. I had a CB450 Honda that had a squeal/squeak. It was the front pads. A way to check is to take a screwdriver and gently pry the caliper to the point the pads are "clear" of the rotor. Test drive it without using that brake and see if the noise is there. If not, replace the pads as some have a wear indicator. Also there is a spray sold to quieten disk brakes. Use it like a spray paint on the back of the pads, not the part that cntacts the rotor. Many brake noises have been fixed by a couple of dollrs spent on that spray.

  2. Check your front wheel bearings.

    My Honda exhibited similar symptoms.
