  1. .

  2. Thats a rod knocking. Means the engine is very tired and is about to die. If it lets go, the rod can break and destroy your engine. Time for a rebuild ASAP.

  3. sounds as if you are having Lifter problems.... does it subsides after a few minutes? If not, then something could be stuck and probably needs to be assesed.

I have a 91 Explorer that does a knocking sound for a couple of minutes and I have had that happen to me for the past 3 years that I have had it.

I did have an Astrovan that when it started ticking, the motor lost a piston after 3 weeks.

So, has it always been there? you could be fine for the time being

Did it just start? then you could be facing some major mechanical issues fairly soon

  4. Was the knocking noise there before the exhaust system was change?  If so, then the knocking should of been checked into before the exhaust was replaced.   There are too many knock type noises involved and not being there to hear this noise I do not want to start making guesses.  Without spending more money, ask several of your mechanical friends what they believe the noise is.
