1991 ford ranger speedometer isn't working?

i have a 1991 ford ranger xlt supercab and my speedometer isn't working. i was told its the speedometer cable. its an automatic tranny and i don't know where to start with this fix

  1. Go online,type in make/model/yr; repair manual.Forget answer from johnny.....,beer has little to do with repairs,its for drinking,a toothpick won't fix the cable problem.Get a repair manual from local auto parts store.


  2. I had a similar problem with my Explorer. I brought the car into the shop and they attempted to fix it and said that it would have to be replaced for $500. This was too much for me at the time so I tried to fix it myself. I was successful. First you take a beer bottle. Then you break the plastic casing with the bottle that the speedometer sits in. Then you take a big swig of that cold brew. Then you yank out that needle that seems to not work and replace it with a toothpick. The older the tooth pick the better.. Then put some plastic wrap over the shattered plastic hole and you should be OK.

  3. DMJ doesnt know what hes talking about, stick to the beer route.
