1991 ford ranger speedometer isn't working?

Question

i have a 1991 ford ranger xlt supercab and my speedometer isn't working. i was told its the speedometer cable. its an automatic tranny and i don't know where to start with this fix

Go online,type in make/model/yr; repair manual.Forget answer from johnny.....,beer has little to do with repairs,its for drinking,a toothpick won't fix the cable problem.Get a repair manual from local auto parts store.

I had a similar problem with my Explorer. I brought the car into the shop and they attempted to fix it and said that it would have to be replaced for $500. This was too much for me at the time so I tried to fix it myself. I was successful. First you take a beer bottle. Then you break the plastic casing with the bottle that the speedometer sits in. Then you take a big swig of that cold brew. Then you yank out that needle that seems to not work and replace it with a toothpick. The older the tooth pick the better.. Then put some plastic wrap over the shattered plastic hole and you should be OK.
