Yesterday I was driving down the highway when i smelled something burning. Next i seen smoke coming from under my hood, my car was overheating. I opened my hood & noticed a leak from my coolant tube, fixed it. Drove not even a mile till it started overheating again. The leak stooped but my car was still running hot, i put water in it, So i could get home. But it still was overheating. I let it rest for a hour then the car wouldn't even crank, so i got it towed home. The car will not even crank anymore i need help what can it be?

  1. Sounds like the overheating caused your pistons to sieze up. That is due to the metals expanding and then the pistons wedge into the cylinders. Sometimes if your lucky you can take a socket and a breaker bar to the bolt on the Crank pully and break it loose but more than likely it has caused cylinder damage and you will need to rebuild the engine.

  2. I agree with the answer above. You could also pull one of your spark plugs and see if you can see any antifreeze on top of your engine. If you cracked a head and water got in that would keep your crankshaft from being able to turn. So, I would recommend pulling a spark plug and looking to see if you see any water. Good luck!
