Actually all charging systems have a voltage regulator. The question is, where is it located. Many alternators use an internal regulator that is not easily replaced. Most generators and early alternators used an external regulator that is easily replaced.

Which one does your truck have? Could be either since both types were fitted.

yes, but they are INTERNAL, that is to say its inside the Alternator.

you can tell buy the two prongs in the connector that goes to the alternator.

if they are a dash dash, - -  the regulator is internal

if they are a I ,  I the voltage regulator is external, or mounted on the fender somewhere
