  1. wrong kind of bulb i bet

  2. make sure that the headlight bulb is NOT an 80/100watt bulb.just use a regular 9004 bulb,i believe that it should be 40/60watt.if you use a higher intensity bulb you will melt the headlight socket as the stock wire harness is not made to carry that much load.9004LL (long life ) are o.k. to use,but do not use a stronger (watt) bulb.sure you can see more but it is too much for the stock wire harness to withstand(draws too much)also you may overhead your headlight switch, that may cause some (usually 1) pin to overheat, melting both the headlight switch and the headlight wiring harness plug.

  3. Short in electrical system

  4. Off-road bulbs have been put in, and the heat is melting it.

  5. just the holder melted. good that your car remained intact. Show it to a good mechanic and install an "electrical cutout" Its an extra piece of wiring which fits additionally in to cars good for cars before year 2000.

Each circuit in it has a fuse. So instead of holder meltdown or fire the fuse will blow first. Your headlamps will glow much brighter then they are now.

It should cost approx $15-19 + installation charge.
