I have a 1992 kawasaki jetski and everytime I go to start it I have to choke it then turn choke off then start normal. after that it runs for about 10-15sec and dies. other than that big problem it seems to be fine. I am wondering what it might be? and could it maybe be because i have old gas and or oil in it?

  1. if the gas in the tank is more than six months old, refuel with fresh gas then try again.

if the gas is that old, most likely the carb is gummed up.  gasoline turns to varnish as it evaporates and clogs up the jets and other tiny passages.  solution is to take the carb apart, soak it overnight in carb cleaner and reassemble with a new carb kit.

but I'd do a compression test & spark test before doing anything complicated.  look for nearly equal compression (within 7%) on all cylinders, and spark that jumps a 7/16" gap on an inline tester.
