1992 ranger transmission

Question

I need to change the tranny in my 1992 ford ranger. What I was wondering is how do you tell what trans you have in that truck? Also is this a hard job to do if I am reasonable mechanically inclined?

if its not a four wheel drive it should be pretty easy and if its not an automatic it should be easier.  All you have to do is tell a junk yard what you want and they will give you all the details.  in fact key in www.car-part.com and get an idea what a tranny will cost if you want used.

as long as you can find it the tranny can go all the way back to i believe 86 just find 4x4 with similar motor. the tranny is not a hard swap. I ha dan 88 that i built frame up. if you have any questions about rangers go to www.therangerstation.com... great forum!!
