  1. The block on these engines are the same as the other Ford 3.0 engines I believe. Well the oil pan is different and there are a few other special parts there too I guess. The heads are the only part that is Yamaha. The engines minus the heads were shipped to Japan (Yamaha) for final detailing, heads, intakes and flow matching of the engines.

That said, if the rod went south, the engine should have more of a rebuild then this.

That said, try the ShoShop. They have the tech info you need.

But over all it is no more complicated then any other ford 24 valve engine.

  2. You may get it apart, but you will never get it back together.  It is one of the most complicated engines there is, it has 4 cams and they have to be all timed together exactly with all the timing chains and tensioners.  It also requires some very special tools to do this.  Your best bet is to look for a used engine to replace it with or just buy another car.  SHO's get be found very reasonable..

  3. To the contributer above, the SHO has a Yamaha designed and built engine.  This job is super complicated and if you are untrained in working on these dohc engines, it very well might take more than 2 days to complete, if you can do it at all.  I'd take it to a mechanic.  Cool car, btw.

  4. Dear G-O-M,

Lets see, first you posted that this vehicle had a busted pushrod and wanted to know how long to fix.(you were patiently told what dohc means) Now you want to know how long for a rod bearing???? Did you take the pan off?? Did you have a certified psychic technician moment?? Do you have x-ray vision??? Or are you just wasting space that others really need to contact us with real concerns???? The economy is in the toilet and most folks on here are honestly looking for help to repair their vehicles and keep them running because they can't afford to toast a SHO motor, (If you have one)

  5. What does a ford Taurus have to do with a Yamaha???
