I recently bought a 93' katana, and learning how to ride accidently layed it down once. I wanna get new left and right side main fairings. I have looked on ebay and done some searches but can't find any. Anyone have any idea's? I got new mirrors and a tank guard but the sites don't have the fairings on them.

  1. Its an old bike so it will be harder.  Have you tried just googling it and see what comes up, maybe theres a shop which will have the fairings.

Also, rather than just search for the panels on ebay, why dont you search for the actual bike, someone may have one just sitting in their garden which they are selling for spares or repair - you could also try in the MCN paper and biketrader (autotrader for bikes) and see if anyone has either the panels or the whole bike - there could even be someone breaking one who would be happy to sell you just the fairings.

    Good luck

    xx

  2. You may be better off just getting them fixed. They'd sand it, fill the scratches and paint over. It would look new.

My wife has a 94 ZX6 she dropped. Couldn't find affordable plastics so I got the fixed. Looks like a new bike now. I got before and after pics if you wanna see, email me

  3. Did you try this place?

    SUZUKI KATANA

    GSX600 88-97

    FAIRING

O.E.M. replica replacement fairing/body parts, side panels and fenders are designed as replicas of the stock O.E.M. parts at a fraction of the cost. They are made of super strong black or white High Impact A.B.S. plastic that provides and excellent surface for painting. We suggest mounting all products before procedding with painting. Hardware is included where necessary.

    $169.95

  4. Try salvage yards too.  Dig deep in your area to find used parts.  Who knows, you might find an identical panel sitting around somewhere.  Craigslist.com is also an option.

Buying aftermarket replacement panels themselves are indeed cheap, but they will require paint, finishing, and possibly factory decals/stickers to make it look right, so compare that total cost with the cost of a new Suzuik part.  Sometimes (rarely) there are fit/finish issues, but it's up to you as to how much you are willing to put up with.

You might also compare the cost of restoring a stock panel that you find at a salvage yard to match your bike.

Otherwise, if you buy factory-fresh parts from a dealer, do some shopping around to compare prices as dealers do not often share the same price.  The best prices are usually found at dealers advertising in the backs of popular motorcycle magazines like Sport Rider, Cycle World, Motorcyclist, etc.  Keep shopping around and keep Ebay in your sights.
