Question:

1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass...reliable and economical?

I am 17 years old and I am looking for my first car. I came across an advertisement in my local newspaper for a 1993 four-door Olds Cutlass. It has a V6, automatic, loaded, with new Goodyear tires. The person says it's very nice, clean, and economical. The asking price is $2,800.

My question is, HOW reliable and economical is this car? The last thing I want is a gas hog. Just looking for some input from anyone who can help. I really appreciate any and all answers.

Thanks.

  1. It is a boat. It is not going to be very economical. Maybe 17-20 mpg at best. And 2,800 sounds high from a private party, if it were a dealership or car lot, maybe. Go to KBB.com and figure it out for yourself.

Find a Toyota Echo or something that size and save on the fuel cost.

It may reliable, but it is an over priced boat in my opinion.

  2. How many miles does it have on it ?  2800.00 seems a little high to me. Hard to tell without looking at it and hearing it run, if it was a one owner car, and has low miles, you may get a good car without any major problems. Have a mechanic look at it if your not sure what to look for !

        Good luck,, Drive safe !!

  3. They're not very economical and since GM dropped the Oldsmobile line they are no longer supported by a dealer network. Parts will be getting scarcer as they age and the resale value is in and will continue to be in, the toilet. Basically, the car is an orphan. No mama, no papa and no one wants to adopt them.
