I posted similar question before but didnt get very good response. Problem started with blown left head gasket (Located to Rear by firewall) I replaced it and torqued to 80lbs. as per book said in sequence pattern. Started and completely stopped smoking, no water leaks, and runs with like a skipping sputtter continuously, and lacks power on acceleration. 2nd I re-timed it all back up to specs, aligned all dots on head cams, and lower mark. Stared it and runs with no change. 3rd I replaced all spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor, started it and runs the same as before, 4th I had 3 Auto Mechanics, 1 who worked in garage for years by trade, and another who is Father in Law who lives with us, and worked on his own all his life...Nobody can figure my problem out why this is running like c**p, I tightened all intake nuts to 15lbs torque specs per book as well. Timed it up with a timing light, and nothing makes any difference...also checked out all vaccum hoses for cracks, all seem to be working. Please HELP?

  1. have you changed the O2 sensors and the Coolant temperature sensor?

  2. valve rocker adjustment.

  3. Clean the EGR valve and make sure its diaphragm isn't cracked.

  4. one thing you didn't mention doing on this one and that's checking the fuel pump pressure on it ,it sounds like you have low pressure on the pump and that will cause it to run badly like that,id check that, you have done everything else right on it so checking that would help to diagnose it a lot better ,until you can confirm that it does have good fuel pressure you cant rule this out as not being the problem with it,good luck.
