I recently purchased a 94 Tracker. It needs some work, but in pretty good condition for its age. I have had no luck finding the original tire size shown on the placard, which spec's p195/75r15. Yokohama reccomended switching to LT195/75/r15 and adding 15 psi to the (GEO) factory spec of 23 psi. But that size is not available in LT tires either. The tires the previous owner installed are P215/65R15. If the factory reccomended size is 195 mm wide then 215mm can't possibly be acceptable. (or is it?) They definately don't look quite right. Does anyone know what size is a safe replacement, and if so can you also tell me how many psi of air pressure do I need to add to the 23psi to reach a proper inflation.

  1. P195/75R15 94S is officially a dead size.  I don't know of anyone offhand who is making tires in that size.  LT195/75R15 is almost but not quite as dead and a bad choice anyway.

The obvious replacement choice is P205/70R15 95S which is one of the five most common tire sizes on the planet, thus limiting your replacement tire choices to maybe 4-500 different models.  You should be able to find something you like.  Overall diameter is nearly identical for minimal change in odometer and speedometer readings, load capacity is slighly better so you can stick with the stock tire pressure recommendations and they will easily fit on your 5.5" wide wheels.

P205/70R15 95S is such an obvious alternative I have a hard time believing a big tiremaker like Yoko couldn't figure that out. P215/65R15 95S would work but is a bit radical and wouldn't work as well as P205/70R15 95S IMHO

  2. id say LT is light duty and thats fine you dont need anything heavy duty.... dont worry about the first two lettters the size is all that matters and the YOKA place is the same thing as the originals .... p is for passenger or car tires LT is more for trucks but on a geo i doubt its gunna make a differnce
