1994 Home theater model...no pic...line accross the middle?????

  1. Your TV set's vertical deflection circuit requires service.  The problem can be anything, from simple cracked solder joints to failed capacitors all the way to a failed vertical deflection IC.

    Most likely, it is the simpler causes (cracked solder joints and/or faulty electrolytic capacitors).  Your set is old enough for this problem to occur that way.

    There is absolutely nothing wrong with the picture tube, but discontinue use to avoid burn damage to the screen phosphors and have the set serviced or use this as an excuse to buy a new ATSC compliant HDTV.

    I am assuming from the "Home Theater model" mention that this is a set made by RCA.

    And, if you are considering buying a new HDTV, don't buy an RCA.  Instead, stick with the following: Sony, Panasonic, Pioneer, Mitsubishi, Sharp, Toshiba.
