  1. If it runs

  2. I don't know what your reading but Jeeps in general are some of the most unreliable vehicles on the road.

The Jeep Cherokee is on the list used cars to AVOID.

    owner reviews:

The biggest problem with this car would be its poor gas mileage and the brakes. The brakes seem to be poorly designed.

steering column (susceptible to theft - use a steering club), rust out of door hinges on front doors common to this vehicle.

they don't make it any more, so it's a real target to steal for parts. It's also terribly easy to break into, and it can be started with a screwdriver.

keep an eye out for the crank sensor going bad, it's a common thing in older Jeeps, with the inconvenience of suddenly shutting the engine off for you, whether you're on the highway doing 70 or idling in traffic .

I have paid a lot to mechanics over the last several years. The undercarriage was never coated at the factory (oops!) and the floor was rotting out (thousands of dollars to fix). The water pump has been replaced and I have to replace the catalytic converter this summer, since it is falling apart. I think there's something wrong with the starter, as well.

Electrical system needs help - cruise control, fog lights, anti-hijacking, etc all went out at the same time around 80k miles. Rough ride, but okay with me.Don't buy this if you want a luxury and smooth ride though - it is an off-the-road vehicle for sure!! The radiator seems to be the biggest problems with theses vehicles

transmission fluid is always leaking from around the yoke.I replaced the casket four times already. It starts dripping after a week.

  3. It's $1000!! If it runs at all it's worth $1000 bucks.  Inspect it thoroughly and pay money to a certified mechanic for a full check.

Don't expect a lot of reliability from this car but it'll get you from point A to point B.  The good news is you've got so little invested in it, spending some money on repairs (and you will spend money on repairs within the first 60 days of owning it) you'll still be way ahead of the game on the investment.

  4. That is what they bring but make sure the tranny is good as they had problems in 94 with some not going into overdriive. Also pull a carfax  because if in accident but they fixed good it may save you a couple of hundred.

  5. 1994 Jeep Cherokee

    185000 miles

I think it's dead in bed now!  Your going to sink a lot of dough in that one and still have a stinker when it's over.

Forget the stereo.  You have one put in for $150.  If you want an off roader, get a Subaru, Santa Fe, RAV4..  Get the milage (I see your price range..you'll need to up it a little) under 105K...for heavens sake under 130K anyway.  Get it checked out by a mechanic before you buy.

  6. Check the Tranny in it first! My parents bought one back in 94 brand new and the tranny went bad in it a couple years later!
