is it worth $1000 in your opinion?

i know a fuel pump is around $100, but what is a rod bearing and how expensive are they?

also how much would it cost in labor (parts?) to do a motor swap, not including the price for a new motor

thanks and 10pts for a good answer -John

  1. Just find another Camaro. It would cost you a lot more to do what you are asking about than to find one in good condition.

  2. Craigslist link is no good.

A rod bearing is the bearing that the crankshaft and connecting rod share.  If the bearing is bad, chances are that the crankshaft is too.  This will require the engine to be taken out of the car. It will cost over a thousand dollars, ( more than likely two thousand. depending on the engine.),  to repair.  The fuel pump you mentioned? Over two hundred for the part alone.  I work on my own cars and would not take this one if you gave it to me for free.

  3. ok a rod bearing is 2 peices of curved metal that go to the piston, if im not mistaken it you spun a bearing there would be a knocking in the engine. the labor for this would be 12 hours to de asembel the top of the engine then point out the problem.

mechenics get an easy 50 - 80 an hour. and if you do the engine swap you want to make sure it is a brand new motor. and your thinking how can you aford a new motor look on line, o and your other question book time on an engine swap is 18 hours at 50-80 an hour i hope this helps you
