  1. hi ken, I have the same vehicle and had the same problem once.  I found out that the vacuum hose from the brake booster to the engine is loose.  It was a problem with a lot of blazers and jimmy's that year.  The air escaping is causing your blazer to idel errratically, and its not sending pressure to the booster, so thats why those things happen at the same time.  Its a cheap fix, just go buy i think some 1.5 inch hose clamps and stick one on each end of the brake booster hose.  As far as the grinding noise I'm not to sure, Good luck, Lerin
