ok put short and sweet blasts out of the hole fine then boggs down in the water normal operation is about 7500 rpm then goes down to about 5500 and is sluggish. Ill shut it off in the water turn it back on then it bursts again then back to 5500 or less. Also in my back yard hooked up to the garden hose for cooling it revs up fine sounds like a banshee!!! what could the problem be?

  1. Lots of boat and PWC motors sound great when you test the motor out of water, but that don't mean two cents.  The true test is when they are ran under load in water.

Sounds like it could be a number of things, carb issues, ignition troubles, lack of compression.

Do you always run the gas out of the carb after you put it up for the day?   Are you doing any bad habits such as buying cheap 2 cycle oil, not mixing the oil&gas properly, or running it without a water source to cool the engine?

Unless you have the service manual for it and are mechanically inclined, I recommend you take it to a reputable PWC service shop and have them look at it.

  2. Do a compression test.

I would bet you have a piston sieze issue.
