ok, i have a red ( i believe its laser red) paint on my stang...but because of its age...and sunlight hitting it the paint looks very dull or oxidized in some spots. i have used a couple differet polishes and waxes ... which hae helped but still....is no where near a new cars look.

anyway...i have a friend who says he can professionally sand/buff/polish it for around 125 bucks.... he says it will all look shiny again...but i have my doubts

do you guys think its worth the money? and if so will it even work? because its deff not worth getting a 3000 dollar paint job..whenever i spent 2000 on the car lol.

o btw...the clear coat is great condition.

thanks a lot

  1. oxidized paint is dry paint...you can disguise it but you can not bring it back from the dead. There is no way clearcoat is good in the bad spots or they would not be bad spots :)

Try a good cutting compound and then a "industrail wax"...beg it from a local dealership.... that will work for a few months.

  2. if hes good with a buffer id let him do this that's a good deal to buff a red one out they are hard to get streaks out of,so if he can do it for the let him it should shine like a new one after being buffed out, good luck.

  3. unfortunately, red oxidizes quickly, and is the most expensive toner. Youre best bet is to use a medium grit compound. Wax only makes things shiny, so you dont want shiny oxidization. and a little elbow grease. It will be alot of work, so if you can buy the professional job,  go for it, its up to you :-)

  4. Before you spend any big money, try VaporWax. It is a pure liquid acrylic paint conditioner that you mist on your car to instantly deoxidize your paint and leave your it looking like new.
