1994 rx7 first car??

i am 16 i have been saving my money and would like to get an rx7 but i am worried that it will not be reliable even as a daily driver. i have been lookin at this one its a 1994 has 54,000 miles has been serviced routinly clean title for 17,500 anyone think i should go for it

a rx7 isnt a good car for new drivers, a rotary engine is not easy to fix or cheap to maintain, start off with a 240sx if you insist on having a rwd car you can practice on your 240sx then work your way up

not cheap...break easily, high price to mantain.,,, but its a very good car though....

get mazda miata mx5, toyota mr-s or just get 240sx like every one else

or get a honda s2000

The FD series of the RX7's are spectacular, well balanced, fast sports cars.  They can be modded to pretty extreme power levels and handling capabilities.

BUT, they can be fragile.  Rotary engines are easily damaged if you over-boost them.

Anytime you buy a used RX7 make the assumption (and have the cash available) that the motor may need to be replaced.  If the previous owner didn't know the proper way to maintain a rotary it may need rebuilding/replacing in short order.

And last point.  As a first car for someone as young as you this car will be a death trap.  You WILL end up wrapping it around a tree or something similar.  This car is waaaaayyyyy to much for a novice driver to handle.  You may think I'm wrong but you're not as good of a driver as you think you are.  If you want a car like this I'd advise taking an Advanced Driver school from a local sports car club, and attend some local autocross events to get some real seat time and learn how this car handles in a safe environment

I advise if u want an rx-7 either u should have a lot of money saved up for repairs or u are good with cars cuz the rx-7 does require a lot of Maintenance since it is rotary and it is an old car. other than that a great car and very very very fun to drive. good luck

this is absolutely should not be the first car for a teenager. remember this is a rotary engine, which requires extra maintenance and attention from its owner.  

you should also read up at the rx7 forum if you decide to buy it.

but this is one very fun car.
