Is there a vacuum line on the 95 wrangler that would cause the 4x4 not to work. I looked at a wrangler today and the 4 wheel drive wasnt working and he said it was a vacuum line is this possible? Thanks

  1. No, are you serious. He is selling the jeep and says it's just a vacuum line? Wouldn't he be able to get at least 1500 dollars more if the four wheel drive worked. Have him replace the vacuum line, verify that fixes the problem (which it wont) then walk away and find another Jeep. Do not buy that Jeep, trust me.

  2. The actuator that engages the front axle is driven by a simple vaccum motor mounted on the axel on the passenger side...so yes it is possible and is common that it fails.   Though, it could be the actuator itself that is stuck (less likely), or a rusted out vaccuum motor (not so unlikely).

If I fixed this same problem on my '94 Wrangler, I'm pretty sure it would not raise the selling value by $1500. I wish.  Not an expensive fix.  Never fixed mine because I don't use the 4x4 enough to justify the time and effort. And I'm lazy.
