1995 dodge avenger - blower went out, a/c still works, but... no blower to blow the air out.

Where in St. Louis, MO, can I get this fixed that is not too outragously priced?

you need to check the fuse first on that one if all the speeds went out,and if the fuse is good its probably the blower motor resistor that has went out,usually you,ll still have the high setting if those go out but on some occassions you,ll loose al the speeds, that part cost abuot 20 bucks depending on whrer you buy it at and it takes about 5 minutes to replace it,that should restore the motor to working again.if you take your time withit you can get it on and working again,good luck.

If the blower still works on high speed, chances are that it is the resistor. If not, it could be the blower motor itself. If it is the resistor, it's "easy" to replace. The part is located under the dash close the blower motor and is held in with two screws. The hard part is reaching it because it is under the dash. The part should run around $30, check with your local dealer.

Average shop if just replacing a simple fuse really shouldn't charge you money but some might charge a small service fee.If the resistor is faulty then they might charge you from 20 mins labour to 30 mins tops.Even if changing the whole motor and having to test the fuse and resistor first to find out motor no good it shouldn;t be more then 45 mins or an hr labour tops.

What I'd be doing is calling around some or going to a reliable shop that won't charge for checking the system but will charge a bit extra if doing the work.At least that way you'll know what the problem is and if the motor I highly recommend trying to find a good motor from a cheap good auto wreckers.
