1995 jimmy fuel pump?

Question

got a 1995 gmc jimmy w code engine i believe my fuel pump went on it i pour a little gas down the Fuel injector throttle body and it then did start for a couple seconds. now with these engines do you have to buy the whole assembly for the fuel pump or just the one piece.

your better of spending the money for a new pump if you get a used one your asking for troubles. sometimes you can buy just the pump and sometimes it comes as a whole sending unit

Start by having someone turn the key to the on position while you listen down the fill tube. you should hear the pump run for 3 seconds, if it runs then check the filter for being plugged, if not , you're going to have to  check the plug end to see if you are getting power to the pump, if you are then ya need a new pump. if not, keep on going thru the wiring to the relay and fuses. As far as the pump, most auto parts stores will sell it BOTH ways as a unit or pump only. buy a pump and  a new strainer.. that's the minimum for replacement. Good luck.

you should be able to buy the pump and not the entire assembly. you do know it is in the tank yea?

have it checked out before you put a pump in it it could just be the fuel pump relay  or an ecm problem or even a filter crawl under it and listen by the tank to make surewhen someone tries to start it you don't here the pump humming

Things it could be:Plugged fuel filter,Bad TPS,Open circuit at water temp sensor,Oil pressure gauge disconnected or disallowing complete circuit so fuel pump will turn on,Bad fuel pump.Good luck.
