1995 movie Now and then, originally a book?

Question

I know the 1995 movie Now & then was originally a book, I can't find the real author anywhere. I don't have time to go through imdb forums & find it, I have 15 minutes before Im heading to the book store & I can't find any mention of the book just by googling. I have Harriet Grey written down as the author but, like I said that's is coming up to be false...? Help!

There is a 'Now and Then' by Robert Parker, one in his series of mystery books featuring Boston P.I. Spenser...

There is a textbook called 'Now and Then: Current Issues in Historical Context' by Judith Stanford.

There is, of course, 'That Was Then, This is Now' by S.E. Hinton, but I think you'd know the title, right?

And that is all I see here with that specific title...
