1996 Ford Ranger Won't Start - Just ONE click and nothing?

My truck won't start just one click from the relay and nothing, we have replaced the relay, took battery to shop to be tested and its fine, bought a brand new starter, checked the battery cables and now we have no lights either, completely stumped any advice out there please.

  1. Sounds like could be the voltage regulator, Check with a meter at both sides of regulator, when someone turns ignition measure at starter side of regulator

  3. you want to buy a new transmission. also check or replace your timing belt. also, check and make sure your battery is in correctly and the wires are tight.

    also, maybe your fuses are getting damaged. because your truck starting and your lights are two totally different problems. check your fuse box

  4. If it's getting power it should still crank even if the alternator is bad. The battery light would be on too. Make sure the ground to the starter didn't come loose. Had a similar problem with my truck and it turns out the ground came off.

  5. Try the crank sensor it's a ford thing.

  6. It may be the alternator. Did you check that?
