Question:

1996 Sea Doo SP turns over but will not start?

Started a few weeks ago and ran well. Since then I trailered about 30 miles and replaced with a new battery. Now, the engine turns over, but will not start. When I remove the plugs they're wet. I replaced the old plugs and have topped off the tank (from 4 to 6 gallons) in case the fuel had condensation. Plugs spark when the I take them out, though not the thick blue light that the service manual suggests.

Thanks for any help.

  1. If it ran well why did you replace the battery? I think that is where your problem lies. I race skis & have seen this happen a few times. Some batteries just don't work in some skis. They create a spark but not strong enough to fire up.

You should be able to open your gap up to 6mm & get a spark to jump accross.

If you're in Australia, call Alan 0419964505 he is the president of Jet Sport West & a seadoo GURU (has about 5 xp's & 2 spx's). Tell him sharky said to call. We are in WA but he knows people Australia wide who could help you. Give him a call.

  2. 1.The poor quality of SPARK is first,New battery suggests you were not happy with electrics before .Plugs wet shows

they are not firing properly. So get a good electrical overhaul.

Next,Always dump old petrol as over winter it goes "off".

    REMEBER.Compresion Good

                          Spark /Timing Good

                           Carb./Mixture Good

                            Clean Fuel .

If all the above are good, you will get results,Good Luck
