I have a 1996 VW jetta with a JVC CD player. When i first turn on the car the stereo will stay on at higher volumes, but after a few minutes it will begin to kick off and restart. Right before it kicks the screen will begin to blink. The longer the car runs the lower the volume is before kicking off. I changed the battery terminal ends (which were corroded) but this didnt help. If i turn the loud setting off it will run on higher volumes (18 or 19 instead of 14 or 15) but anything over 19 will kick it off.

  1. the radio could be hot causing it to go "into protection" which protects it from frying the internal components, or there is a problem with the radio (does not sound like a short or wiring problems)

  2. ground, fuse look at all the wires is some of them touching

  3. I have a '99 jetta. my stereo has problems too. it always turns off at random moments or freezes. I think they are made crapy or somthing.
