1996 ford escort lx 1.9 car runs excellant when u start it up after about 20 to 25 minutes of running it seems to not whant to accelerate..its like its bogging down. if you put it in neutral (manuel transmission) if u give it gas its rpms slowly rise until u get to about 2500 to 3000 rpms then it accelerates quickly. i am lost. its got a new catalac converter new plugs and wires fuel fitler and air filter.

  1. Try your o2 sensor

  2. Throttle positioning sensor probably needs replaced. Get one at a junk yard and see if it corrects it. I got 5 different sensors at a junk yard once for $5.

  3. I would check mass air flow meter for any debris in the sampling tube feathers, dirt, leaves etc. if you have access to a scan tool check baro reading should be about 157 hz at sea level will vary according to your elevation. also check fuel pressure it should be 30-40 psi idle and. also monitor it while driving when it won't accelerate. fuel pressure should not drop. If it drops probably looking at a worn fuel pump.

  4. you might have a bad fuel pump or throttle body, take it to a mechanic
