1996 mustang gt obd code p1443 help?

i have one week to get my car inspected and the guy i bought this car from said he replaced canister purge valve, but the code still comes up. and i think it's the sensor, where is it located?

  1. there is a canister purge valve and a flow sensor in line on the drivers or passenger side (look for a brass colored tube with 2 wires and then on the same hose a black box with 2 wires....)

    I change both at the same time because contamination from the hose breaking down cause the code...

    Ask Ford dealer if they have a 9c987 kit for this car (It has the sensor, hoses, and valve in line)


  2. The code means:

    Evap. Emission control sytem: vacuum system,purge control solenoid, or vapor mangement valve malfunction.

    The simplest thing to check would be the gas cap being on securely. It sounds stupid but this will throw a code. If thats not it it could be control solenoid, wiring to it, a ground not being secure and so on.

    The code might just need to be cleared, also maybe the seller really didn't replace anything. I hope this is a start for you, Good Luck!
