My grandparents offered to sell me their 97 Lumina for $2k. It has 85k miles (mostly highway) and was garage kept for the first 7 years (they maintained oil every 4k and are not hard drivers). Most of the miles are highway between ohio and florida. They recently installed a new altinator and belt. Is this a good buy? WIll this car last?

  1. The average life of a vehicle is 10 years.  That one is 11 years old.  Will it last?  Perhaps.  But it does sound like things are beginning to go wrong, alternator, belt...

  2. well, if they're family why wouldn't they just give it to you???but yea thats a good buy.

  3. They are nice cars, and 85,000 miles is low these days.  Especially since you know the history and care of the car, I would buy it in a heartbeat @ $2000.  If you don't want it, maybe I'll buy it!
