  1. one of the radiator hoses could have pulled together long enough to cause an air bubble in the cooling system and that could have caused that too happen,or the cap could have released the coolant to early and caused this too happen, that was a sign of high pressure on the cooling system so anything like a thermostat that might have stuck on it could have caused that too happen,id check the cap first ,also check and make sure the reservoir doesn't have a crack in it any where,a head gasket will also cause one to build up high pressure, all you can do is start checking things ,try a cap on it first and see what happens, also if the bottom of the radiator is getting stopped up on it that will cause it to do the same thing,be sure and check all the hoses on it for swelling or dry rot or signs of a leak, good luck.

  2. sounds like its overheating-  is the temp gauge going up?

    or you've overfilled the reservoir

  3. Or the radiator cap is not holding pressure.  Get that tested first, then get your cooling system pressure checked as well.
