Question:

1997 Ford Mondeo "Trans Problem"?

I have a 97 GLS mondeo, and in the last week it at 80km and over it is having problems changing gears, it either over revs then clunks into gear, or just whines and seems surge forward, its really hard to explain, but driving normally at 60kms and under it doesnt seem to have a issue, i have even tried taking over-drive off but still no different...please help ...

Sorry but it does sound like a bad gear in the transmission especially since you mentioned it's fine till over 60kms an hr but clunks going into the next gear.You should really try to look at the mileage on the vehicle and if it's up there over 100,000 kms then for sure if you can do it yourself try changing the transmission filter and fluid bec it might improve the transmission but I recommend you have a reliable transmission shop give the transmission a free diagnostic test drive and test.
