Hey i have a 1997 GMC k1500 5.7l stepside. I was just wondering if i would be able to change the gille in the front for a chevrolet one of the same year? Or how hard would it be to adapt a newer grill like a 2003 on for the one on my 1997 truck? What are the differences in GMC and chevrolet of the same year truck? I want to change my truck to a chevy cause of the amount of bow tie parts out there compared to GMC. Thanks!

  1. the parts are the same the grill will bolt right up in the same holes. a grill from a 2003 will not fit, the front end is differnt. if you need a part most of them are the same. i work on all makes and models and i allso work at an auto parts stoe

  2. las time i checked --if you dont use the front fenders and the hood none of it will work right . they will bolt on but not fit properly. the entire front end swap is the common, easy way to do what you want.  its easier to use the whole thing than to try and piece it together. look at the grille...   there are very little differences in the 2 trucks . mostly the dressy stuff in the gmc over the chevy.

  3. On the '97, you will also need to change the outer-grille (the part that also surrounds the headlights).

Yeah, it will bolt right up; you do not need to change the hood or fenders on this model truck because the rest of the body is identical. Some of the newer styles do have small differences in body panels that would require more body panels to be replaced.

For the '03 style; keep dreaming. There would be a lot of fab work involved to get it. The measurements and mounting are completely different.

  4. GMC is the same as Chevy.  All parts will fit.

  5. im deffinatly not an expert with vehicles but all i can say is take them off and try to put them on if they go on smooth like the factory one should then odds are it will work and make sure everyhitng is lined up and will close properly ( mainily the hood ) and as for the newer one i owuldnt because that would odds are take some customization. personally to me the older look but " dressed  up " is nice, for example the older ford mustang ( 1986 ) compared to the new ( 2008 ) i like the looks of the old ones but i like the technology in the new ones plus the gasmilage. well sorry if i didnt help much, and this has nothing to do with your quesiton but the one question about starting your own business, i owuld go for it i am planning on it too possibly, well good luck
