  1. 1997 was the first year of OBD II compliance, so codes may not match. However #12 matches. It means the battery has been disconnected at some point and it is the first code displayed by the method you used. However there will be other codes if you watch the light flash, the last being 55.

Any other codes displayed will not necessarily correspond.

You need to hook up an OBD II code reader to find out what is causing the problem.

  2. if you have a discount or auto zone near you, go there they will scan your truck for free and tell you exaclty what that code means...Dodge is so hard to understand what the blinkin light means..i hated mine but go there and you will be glad you did

  3. code 12 only means that the battery has been disconnected in the last 50 starts or so,or even if a battery was changed in that code will appear ,all you need to do is clear that one it wont affect the running of it none, good luck.

  4. trouble code 12 is battery disconnect
