Question:

1998 Eclipse engine is ticking.?

Sometimes it ticks a little when idleing, but increases with power., but goes away when i push clutch in? Any ideas of how to fix

  1. crankwalk is coming on BUY A NEw ENGINE


  2. Sounds like the throw out bearing or the pilot bearing is going bad. you would have to remove and replace it should also change the clutch too since all that has to be remove to get to the bearing.

  3. Does your engine have the 'bucket & shim' type of valve adjustment? If it doesn't have hyd. valve lifter's, it's time for maintenance ( valve adjustment).

  4. make sure you're not low on oil, mine starts ticking when its getting low

  6. its a bad lifter.. very common problem with the mitsu's  ive had 2 eclipses in the past that bot had the problem  

  7. sounds like you have a lifter going bad or you might have a valve out of adjustment. or the top end of your engine is being starved of oil

  8. Check your oil!

  9. When it starts ticking give it a kicking.
