1998 Ford contour v6 starter problems?

Question

I have a 98 ford contour v6 that will not start. When I turn the car over, the dash lights come on but thats it. There is no clicking sound or anything. I have changed the battery and got it to start once since then. But I have no Idea what it could be, a friend suggested the starter and another one suggested the alternator. Does anyone know what the problem may be?

do u have antitheft or remote start  

is it original or not

also try to start in neutral and park

there also a starter relay  under hood LH  side

check the solenoid switch or the coil.

will it start with a jump(BOOST)? check the cable ends very closely and clean then till they shine, both positive and negative.

your car may need a new starter but what i would suggest for you is to go to your nearest mechanic and ask if that person would go to where your car is and check whats the problem but make sure to ask more than one mechanic so that one will not cheap you off.
