Can anyone tell me the locations of all grease fittings on this truck? Truck is a 1998 GMC, K1500 4x4, Extended cab short box. 350 V8 (5.7 Liter Vortec 5700). Also Is it possible to have a drive shaft that is not greaseable? Looks like this may be the case, or else the fittings were broken off long ago.

  1. Front suspension and steering.

Upper ball joints. Access from top.

Lower ball joints. Access from rear.

Tie rod ends, pitman and idler arm joints, as well as one more on the pitman arm mounting bracket for the pitman shaft. Access from bottom center.

I'm coming up with 11 from memory for the front end. I will look at my truck when I get home (wed27 or thurs28).

The u-joints are sealed (factory ones but aftermarket joints can be bought with zerks). I can't remember if the splines on the front d-shaft are or not, I don't remember myself ever hooking the gun to it.

  2. most likely it wont have any unless the part has been replace most dont have grease fitting any more at all...  most are seal units  if you dont see them then it dont have any a good bet
