1998 Honda CBR 600 F3 questions?

I am looking to buy a 1998 honda cbr 600 F3 my buddy owns. It is in amazing condition with only 7k miles. I was wondering do u think that bike is too old to buy? How are these bikes? Can they keep up with newer 600's? Overall this is the first streetbike I have owned and I am

wondering if this is a wise purchase and how are these bikes?

(also, how much should i offer him?)

  1. It's a great bike, if price is right buy it . Can't go wrong with a Honda.

      Like it says in the Honda owners manual " Honda's are built to be ridden".

F3, good starter bike.  3k give or take could be a fair offer if the bike is in great shape with good tires and no cam chain tensioner noise.  As for keeping up with the newer ones it has about a 25hp disadvantage but rider skill will decide who is faster since newer bikes make the majority of their hp in the high rmps.  Any cam chain tensioner problems (just a noise) can be solved with a manual one for just over $100 provided you do the work.  Good tires run about $450 and at 7k they should be due for new ones.  Bad plastic lowers the price also.  $1500 wwould be a fair price if the bike needs a few things.
